In Paint Shop Pro how do I make one color with several shades of that color another color?

I am doing recolors on some images, and on one there are several shades of black, is there a way to select only the black portions of the image and change them to another color keeping the same shades (like changing the light black to light green, the dark black to dark green. etc.)In Paint Shop Pro how do I make one color with several shades of that color another color?
Try the color replacer tool. On your materials window click on the swab of color the you want to change (lower color box) The color palette will appear and you should click on the color that you want to be changed. Next click on the upper color box on your materials window and select the new color that you want to replace the old one. Experiment by changing the hardness, density, step, shape, size, thickness of the materials used. If you are satisfied with one color go to the next you would like to replace until you get the desired effect. In Paint Shop Pro how do I make one color with several shades of that color another color?
You could use your selection tool, click around the image you want to change the colour of, using point to point. Selections - Invert, Then using your Hue and Saturation, change to the colour desried.
In your materials box, select the color you want to change to. Remember or write down your Hue and Saturation numbers~~click the box with the color you want~~it will show H, S. Then click on adjust, go down to Hue and Saturation and pick colorize. Put your H and S numbers in there and then see if you like the color. It has a display window, so you can play around with the numbers if needed. If you only want to color parts of a picture, use your freehand tool to select the parts you want to change. Hope this helps you!
I always use Harrys filter for that kind of thing.

I suppose that you can try increasing the canvas and put the color of your choice as a backgroud. Put the image in question as a new layer and change the Blend mode of that layer to Luminance Legasy
