I have a bedroom in our remodeled basement. When we remodeled it, the windows were covered, so there is no natural light. There is paneling around the bottom, about 3 feet high, with thin molding around the top. Right now, the paneling is lime green, the molding is purple, and the wall above is white. I had a colorful room as a kid.... Now I have a Black and white comforter and black and silver accessories/furniture. I was wondering if anyone (maybe professionals out there?) would have any ideas what colors would work for the bedroom. I'm not married to the comforter, and am not opposed to changing it. I guess I could have summed up the question by asking... What colors work for a room with zero natural light? And what colors definitely don't? Thanks!Paint Color help!?

Keep your comforter and furniture. I can definitely work with that. Repaint if needed, the white (above paneling). Next use primer on the lime and purple strip because you need a lighter color. Paint the bottom paneling ';glass bead';, from Sherwin William's. It is a soft comfy blue. Finally, paint the molding ';wonderous blue';, also from Sherwin William's. It coordinates with the other blue, but it will add some brightness to your new room. You can add pillows on your bed that match these blue shades or you could go with white. Also a blue throw rug by your bed would bring it all together. I'm excited for you. This hopefully will be a room you love to spend time in. I agree with Yowza, the Sherwin William's sight is wonderful! p.s. You can get some really neat floor lamps at Wal-Mart for instance. I'd recommend silver with multiple bulbs. Have fun!!!
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I recommend a light, bright blue like ';bluebell'; (# 6793). It would work with your existing comforter, but you also have the freedom to change if you like. And the color is light enough that it shouldn't be too dark.
lighter colors are always a brighter option. Keep the comforter, but add fun colored pillows! Consider lime green or yellow. Paint the walls warm white, or a fun citrus color. Adding bright colors, either an entire wall or just accents, will make the space feel brighter and inviting. Think of summery citrus colors- they are bright and go great with black and white. Look at www.CB2.com they have alot of that style now. You can get ideas from them. Dark colors, reds, browns, dark blues, dark purples absorb more light of the spectrum. Avoiding those colors not only feels brighter, but it actually is! Have fun!
Hello! If you want to increase the light then the answer would be to paint the walls white.Or slightly off-white.White reflects most light.Use a big wall mirror somewhere,it will reflect light. With a neutral color scheme You can just about use any color with black and silver. My preference would be lime green,or post box red.
Paint the top half a ';Tiffany's blue'; and the bottom and ceiling a white. This will really brighten the room up and will look great with your black, white, silver furnishings!
white ceiling, two opposite white walls, two opposite bold colored walls (ex. red), black moldings.
