If you're not afraid of color..try Glidden's Chiffon (a soft buttery yellow)..if keeping it neutral, then a taupe would work for the walls.
Adding an area rug over the mauve carpet for accent incorporating this wall color with other accent colors would work wonders, too. The drapes could play off 1 of the colors from the area rug or you could keep it to match wall color and should always be floor length. Don't be afraid to add a bold punch of color for pillows/throw or use metals for light to bounce off of (brushed nickel sculpture pieces or planters). Many textures give the room lots of interest.
Finding an ';inspiration piece'; will help you to pull it together (artwork? an area rug? etc) , and you can get your colors from that. Bring the room to life! :D
Can always find fabric for window treatment/pillows and use that iron on hemming tape for the draperies and even iron on a wide stripe of ribbon down the edges in an accent color if you don't sew.Brown furniture mauve carpet what color should i paint walls and what color curtains?
You didn't mention if your furniture was a solid color but assuming it is staying in the beige tones for the walls would be a good neutral.
You could do a stripe or a pattern on the window
for interest. with a brown or mauve or burgundy
You could also paint and use the same color
choice for both window coverings and paint together. You could go to Home Depot or Wal Mart or Penny's anyone there could help you pick out a paint color. Or you could buy your curtains and then take it to the paint department and they would help you select a color that works
Hope that helps
