MonicaHi, I have wallpaper all over my room and I want to remove it to paint a new color...?
my mom and aunt used to wallpaper houses, and do interior painting, and they spent time removing wallpaper and cleaning walls for smooth paint finished. find a steamer... they are made specifically for removing wall paper, take your time to really loosen the glue, or you will spend a lot of time washing the glue off the wall. work in small sections, steam, peel, wash, repeat. if you have a friend willing to hold the steamer while you wash it will go a bit faster. good luckHi, I have wallpaper all over my room and I want to remove it to paint a new color...?
I recently removed wallpaper with a solution of Downy and warm water in a spray bottle. It may take a few sprays to really soak it, but it was inexpensive and made the house smell great at the same time. Make sure you have a scraper, although you may not even need to use it.
The best wallpaper remover I have found is simple to make.
1 gallon hot water
1 1/2 cups sudsy ammonia
1/2 cup ';Dawn'; dish soap.
Mix together and put into a spray bottle. Saturate paper. Let sit 15 minutes or so. Spray again and let sit another 15 minutes. The facing should come off in one solid sheet. Try top to botom first and if this does not do it try bottom to top. You may or may not be left with the paper backing, if so repeat the process.
You can buy special wallpaper remover from lowes or home depot. You need to follow the directions. You may also have to use a steamer.
I have a machine that is called a steamer that removes wallpaper. It does a good job. There are also other products but they don't work as well as the steamer.
You can either steam it off, using a steamer, or use wallpaper glue remover, which can even be found in walmart. best solution I have found would be spray the glue on, let it sit for a minute, and use a hairdryer blowing hot air on the pieces you are peeling off.
